Bread of Life Ministries

(Matthew 26:26-28) While they were eating, Jesus took a loaf of bread and after blessing it, He broke it, gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat, this is my body.” Then He took a cup, and after giving thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it all of you, for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”
Bread of Life Ministries is a group of lay people, led by our minister, Mark Woodward, to offer communion to members of our congregation who are unable to attend Church.
Each name we use for the sacrament brings out a different dimension to it. It is the Lord’s Supper because it is the Passover meal Jesus ate with the disciples. It is the Eucharist (Thanksgiving) because in it we thank God for Christ’s work for us. It is Communion because through it we commune with God and with other believers. As we eat the bread and drink the wine (juice) we should be sober as we recall Jesus’ death and His promise to come again, grateful for God’s wonderful gift to us, and joyful as we meet with Christ and the body of believers.
By offering communion to these members who cannot attend Church, we hope to reach out to them with love and fellowship and let them know that they are still a vital part of our Church.
